Longchamp Review - Large Black Le Pliage

by - Tuesday, January 31, 2017

So on New Years eve I was at Siam Paragon which is a massive mall in Bangkok which has higher end stores like Fendi, Chanel, Longchamp etc. I decided to make a somewhat big purchase a Longchamp and to some people this might be nothing, but for me it was a pretty big deal since this is my first 'designer brand' bag.
I've had my eye on the classic Longchamp Le Pliage Large Tote Bags for a while now and thought, why the heck not! There was also a 10% sale which I obviously didn't mind. The original price was 4900 baht then down to 4400 baht with the sale which is around $174 NZD.

It'll be my second year in university this year and for me carrying a tote bag is a bit easier because being a design student I always carry my laptop and it just fits nicer. I'm also not at uni for that long so carrying a tote bag isn't that heavy or annoying on my shoulder. The current bag I have is fine but I thought I would upgrade, finally!
I know this bag has very very mixed reviews, some people think it's a bit tacky since it looks like the material used on an umbrella but I have no issues with that and I don't think it looks tacky at all. The only fear I had or still have is that it might rip after using it for awhile, I can only hope it doesn't.

One of the primary reasons why I actually quite like the umbrella sorta material, which is actually nylon, is because of the crazy unpredictable and unreliable weather in New Zealand. My current tote bag is leather and doesn't have a zip so when it does rain, boy am I screwed. This one however because it has a zip and the outside material is a waterproof one, I feel completely fine walking with this in the rain. Also love the fact that even though it's 'designer' I don't really have to worry too much with it since any mess I make, I can just wipe it off.
Overall the bag is just so nice and fits my laptop so well and has room for my drink bottle, lunch, books, a jacket even. I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I will update if I use it half way through the year and it breaks, because I will not be a happy camper.
